Bio:
Tony Nelson was born in Rochester, NY, on July 28, 1956.
He can be seen most any day on Rochester's fabled Monroe Ave, making the rounds. If you blindly followed the directions posted inside the doors of various businesses to the effect that you should "REPORT ANY PANHANDLING TO THE MANAGEMENT IMMEDIATELY" you might find yourself reporting this storied poet, for he may have just asked you for a handout. Or he may have just read a poem to you. Either way, a Greatness of Chicken Wing Spirit has just touched your life.
You will never be the same.
Often featured on the pages of HazMat Review, Tony enjoys dancing, music, swimming, camping, and gardening. When not writing and drinking coffee in a local coffeehouse, you'll find "The Major" chilling up at Cobb's Hill Park.

A Chicken Wing Experience and True

Here I go
again and again
         and again
on stage
without no band support

My mom said to me
when is my book coming out
I said to her let's discuss
it over fish and grits
Something good is going to happen
if they do not steal my ideals
Do you want to go for a ride
It smells like a barn in here
and I need some fresh air
         Quick
You know                 I
would really like to be your friend
not because you live on the strip
and had dinner with the town
                 homeless committee
and you might stop by
        the Woodlawn Café
but because mainly you look like
        a Hippie I met
at Cobbs Hill Park
                six years ago

Panhandling Blues

Once I was so high
off the Dove of Connection
my assistant of
THE URBAN BANKERS
Club realize not even that
the stage crew
did not come
back from
Jamesville College
yet still living
like Rock Celebrities
stuck on pure stuff
from the Unknown Parts
of the Underground...
It was not like
I broke all the rules
of the Spoken Word
I have been nickel & dime
these folks for years
way before
Cornhill became
actual housing
project
Since February 1972
pennies, dimes, and nickles
has been my
street hobby...
"S'cuse me........S'cuse me......
Can you get me outta here?"

The Paycheck Shuffle

We are just sitting here...
waiting for the horn to blow...
so that we not only be paid in full
but also our Community Accounts
                 will last forever.
It is cold as hell outside.
Channel 31 News Crew
creates a Homeless Chickenwing version
of how the city budget should be spent
within the surrounding counties
as well as Monroe County.
There is a lot of concern in the air.
Then...some people who were basically
born full of shit.

Wings an' Things

Attention......Some of my Fans.....
We're dancing all night; even
         while the moon was full.
But for some reason, things still.....
T h i n g s s t i l l
        did not seem cool.
15 year old jigger-bug
trying to get a job....
hoping to be a local celebrity with
a lot of shit to flush...
Yo !! Where is the sauce, salad, and dinner
                rolls ?? ..........
................Yo!!
